Friday 14 April Italian Tastes
A long aperitivo at the occasion of the exhibition of the Italian illustrator Gianluca Biscalchin – entitled Gastronomic Portraits, from Leonardo to Goya
Everyone eats. Even artists do, but painting and sculpting geniuses transform everything they touch into something sublime – even a hare, a form of cheese or a quail. From Giotto with his perfect circle which reminds us of the diameter of a pecorino from Mugello, to Monet’s passion for banana yellow, from Cezanne’ apples and pears to the Baroque beans of Annibale Carracci, there is an art history that can be rewritten via one’s taste. This exhibition tells an alternative history of the arts and narrates astonishing episodes, like the stabbing of a waiter by a furious Caravaggio over a plate of artichokes. An aperitivo organized with the chefs from Squisito, Italian restaurant that will open on Sunday at the Smalle Haven Gourmet Market. From 18:00 onwards, entry upon invitation RSVP firstname.lastname@example.org
